The WTO Protests after 10 years
Listen live at 1pm ET/10am PT
The 1999 World Trade Organization meeting in Seattle led to the largest street protests and demonstrations in the city’s history. Today on KUOW’s Weekday, the topic is the impact of those protests on the WTO and trade policy, and how they changed the nature of protests since then.
The show’s guest list includes Naomi Klein, the author of No Logo: Taking Aim at the Brand Bullies, among other books; the former Mayor of Seattle, Paul Schell; David Solnit, an organizer of the 1999 WTO demonstrations, and author of The Battle of the Story of the Battle of Seattle; and Margaret Levi, co-chair of the WTO History Project at the University of Washington.
We expect a good discussion. Listen live or on-demand.
