Universal healthcare in Tamworth New Hampshire

Only about 2,500 people live in Tamworth, NH, but each one of those residents receives free nursing care from the Tamworth Community Nurse Association.

nhprNew Hampshire Public Radio’s Elaine Grant visited the community (this report aired originally on NPR’s Morning Edition) and reported on how this small group of nurses is able to provide a basic level of care for the community for about $150,000 a year. A chunk of the money comes from the town.

The report doesn’t try to draw any larger conclusions. Instead, it shows how this variation on universal healthcare has worked in this town for decades.
