PM Public Radio: Nov 17
President Obama met with China President Hu Jintao today. The key topics: nuclear proliferation, climate change, and trade. ATC and The World lead with coverage of the talks. Here are some of the other top stories on the PM programs today:
All Things Considered: The White House’s economic team is said to be trying to “re-balance the world economy,” and, they point out, Americans are already helping by spending less and saving more. John Ydstie looks at what this goal really means for the US economy and the American consumer.
Marketplace: The city of Pontiac, MI has found a buyer for the Silverdome. The sale price: $583,000. That’s a fraction of what it cost to build the one-time-state-of-the-art dome. But it is also a fraction of the city’s annual costs for upkeep.
The World: Next stop on the President’s Asia tour: South Korea. Among the many topics on the agenda in Seoul is the war in Afghanistan. South Korea pulled its troops two years ago, but now there’s a plan to send Korean soldiers back to the war. Jason Strother has the story.
