Micro-canneries flourish in the Pacific Northwest
In the tradition of micro-breweries, and other small-scale artisanal production, “micro-canneries” are now producing locally-caught, hand-packed albacore and salmon in the Pacific Northwest.
Small fishing operations can now can their catch, creating super-premium lines of canned fish for mail order and farmers markets.
Northwest News Network’s Tom Banse visited a micro-cannery in Bellingham.
