A literary history of America

literary_historyListen live at 12pm ET/9am PT

Legendary music writer and cultural critic Greil Marcus has edited a new book of essays about the most important landmarks of American literature. But Marcus goes way beyond the standard definition of literature: Norman Mailer and Tennessee Williams in the same book with Bob Dylan and Hurricane Katrina, Chuck Berry and Emily Dickinson.

How does music collide with literature and history? Greil Marcus will talk about it with Steve Scher today on KUOW’s Weekday.
