ArtPrize and a new conversation between artists and the public
Here’s a new way to consider public art: is it approved by the public?
Grand Rapids, MI announced its first ArtPrize this month, after a competition in which more than 1,200 artists displayed their works all over the city’s downtown, and more then 37,000 citizens voted on their favorite.
Brooklyn artist Ran Ortner won the competition this year with a 19×6-foot oil painting titled Open Water no. 24. Michigan Radio’s Dustin Dwyer reported on the competition. Listen
