Ostensibly, this discussion is about the future of Seattle, but we expect much of it will apply to large American cities, generally, and that’s why we’re recommending it.
Seattle’s struggles are similar to many other cities – revitalizing the urban core, controlling and channeling new growth, traffic (OK, Seattle’s traffic problems are pretty bad), etc. Bruce Katz of the Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institution is on KUOW’s Weekday today, talking about challenges facing America’s large cities, and since Brookings specializes in this kind of research, we’re looking forward to the hour.
