Sotomayor Hearings on NPR and PBS
The hearings begin today and we expect tons of coverage, with NPR News in the lead.
NPR will offer stations live coverage of the hearings from beginning to end. We don’t expect a large number of stations to offer this option, but you can access it easily online.
NPR is also offering evening summaries of the day’s events, with Linda Wertheimer and Nina Totenberg. These air live at 7pm ET/4pm PT, although some stations may delay the shows, particularly in the West.
And on Tuesday and Wednesday, Neal Conan will host what NPR calls Special Coverage of the hearings at 3pm ET/12pm PT. This is part of the Talk of the Nation block, but some stations that don’t normally carry the show may choose to take the special coverage.
And, of course, this is in addition to the coverage on Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
What about TV? The Newshour is providing live coverage, with Judy Woodruff anchoring, to PBS stations, and in this multichannel world, we expect many stations will offer it. You can also watch the stream at The Newshour, which is one of the best public media news sites, if you haven’t checked it out lately.
