Secret nuclear missile facility opens to the public
Before it shut down in 1997, the Oscar Zero nuclear missile site in central North Dakota was top secret. Now, the site is opening to the public.
MPR News’ Dan Gunderson visited the small building (does it look like a nuclear facility?), took the elevator 60 feet underground into a bunker housing the former launch control center, and talked to some of the former missileers who now serve as tour guides.
The Oscar Zero facility is located near Cooperstown, ND.
MPR News also features a multimedia tour. (photo credit: Dan Gunderson/MPR)
