Netbooks not so hot?
Netbook sales have dropped off in the first quarter of 2009. Well, so has most everything. But Future Tense reports the infatuation with netbooks might be over.
Analyst Dwight Silverman offers some reasons: netbooks are cheaper than full-power, full-featured computers, but they’re not that cheap. Silverman also says we like the idea of a tiny, mobile computer, but the user experience is often lacking: scrunched keyboards, small hard drives.
Silverman says netbooks won’t disappear, but ever-cheaper, full power laptops will eat into their territory.
