President Obama addresses the nation’s economy and his administration’s recovery efforts; Pirates hijack more ships off the coast of Somalia; and retail sales drop. Those stories all get a lot of attention on today’s PM programs.  Other highlights include:

All Things Considered: North Korea is threatening to restart operations at its nuclear facilities and boycott six nation talks on its weapons programs.  Mike Shuster has the report.  Also, the EPA is holding a two-day summit to discuss battling the growing problem of bed bugs in the U.S.

Marketplace: “Glimmer of hope” is the new economic catchphrase as people look for signs the recession is easing. Federal Reserve Chief Ben Bernanke is seeing signs of improvement, but warns that financial stability will be the key to recovery. Marketplace’s John Dimsdale reports. And in part two of the Road to Ruin series, Tess Vigeland checks back in with the Landis-McKibben family in Nebraska to see how they have been affected by the economic downs of the last six months.

The World : The trial of an American journalist accused of spying has come to an end in Iran. Wall Street Journal columnist Gerald Seib tells host Marco Werman that hardliners in Iran may be using the case of reporter Roxanna Saberi to show Washington they can still play hardball. The World Bank has warned that a lack of clean water poses a serious threat to Pakistan’s stability. In the second of her two part series, Laura Lynch reports from the Indus River Delta in southern Pakistan.
