What are the Fresh Ideas of 2009?
They’re not necessarily big ideas, and you may not think they’re fresh. BUT they are ideas – that is indisputable.
CBC Radio One’s Spark crams 27 ideas into 27 minutes. The result: Ideas-palooza. Some of them are wacky, some are real keepers.
A few examples:
- Use your iPod screen as a flashlight in the dark. (We do this with our iPhone. It works.)
- Using a scanner to capture the beauty and color of leaves for your collection before they fade. (IF you have a leaf collection)
- A UV lightstick can purify wine barrels, saving winemakers all that annoying sulfur smoke.
- Users, not designers, are often the best at figuring out what technology is for.
- Keep copies of your travel documents on a USB stick. (Andy Ihnatko stores them on his Kindle)
- And here’s the Stupid Human Trick of the Day: Make jewelry from microwaved CDs (please don’t try this at home)
- Take the taboo out of “condom” with a ringtone. A popular free ringtone launched in India last year aims to make condom use acceptable to the Indian people. (who knew?)
- Invite your Facebook friends to a party, and see if any of them could be your real friends.
