This is the time of the year for lists, and public radio book lists feature a number of interesting choices.

Alan Cheuse has chosen his top fiction for the year and the list includes new mainstream fiction from the well-known sci-fi writer Ursula Le Guin, the Pakistani-born writer Nadeem Aslam, and Peter Mattheissen’s new novel, Shadow Country. More…
